The NYPD was working an officer-involved shooting in the Bronx Monday.
Police say a suspect was shot by an officer during a traffic stop near 162nd S. and Sheridan Avenue.
The traffic stop was regarding a stolen vehicle believed to be connected to a string of robberies.
According to the NYPD, as officers approached the vehicle, the driver put the car in reverse, pinning a female police officer between two cars. The officer opened fire and struck the female suspect multiple times.
The officer was hospitalized with various injuries. The suspect’s wounds were described as critical.
At least three other people were taken into custody.
