EARLIER- Authorities are investigating the delivery of packages containing suspicious white powder at six New Jersey hotels and a post office on Friday.

The powder was delivered to :

Econo Lodge in Carlstadt, NJ
Renaissance Meadowlands Hotel, in Rutherford, NJ
Homewood Suites by Hilton in East Rutherford, NJ
Hilton Hasbrouck Heights Meadowlands, in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ
Courtyard by Marriott Lyndhurst Meadowlands, in Lyndhurst, NJ
Quality Inn in Lyndhurst, NJ
Rutherford Post Office, in Rutherford, NJ The Carlstadt Police Department says they got a call from the Econo Lodge at 11:30 a.m. saying someone going through the mail opened a letter with a suspicious powder on it.
Calls from other hotels started coming in shortly after.

Police were able to locate the mail carrier where the letters came from and were able to intercept to additional letters headed to a Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Express in Carlstadt that were never delivered.

The FBI is investigating.

Seven people will be transported to Hackensack Medical Center as a precaution.

The New Jersey State Police released the following statement.
The Joint Terrorism Task Force and Hazard Materials units have responded to several locations that have received a suspicious letter and substance. There are no reported injuries at this time, and the locations are being secured. This situation is being thoroughly investigated and more information will be provided when it becomes available.
