MANHUNT ON: Wayne State University Police Officer Shot In The Head, Police Say

DETROIT — A Wayne State University police officer was shot while on-duty Tuesday, school officials said.

According to Detroit Police, the officer was struck in the head while approaching a suspect on a bicycle.

When backup arrived, the wounded officer’s handgun was missing—it was later recovered.

The Officer was rushed to a hospital and was in emergency surgery.

A search was on for the gunman.

Michigan State Police later identified as person of interest as Deangelo Lamarr Davis, he was later taken into custody. His role in the crime is not known.

“Be aware of your surroundings,” the University said in an alert to students.
