YONKERS, New York – An emotionally disturbed person barricaded themselves in their home and fired at police Saturday.
According to a public safety alert, officers were conducting a welfare check when the individual opened fire and made threats.

As of 2 p.m., the police were actively engaged in a standoff and negotiation with the individual.
Officers returned fire, but no injuries were reported.
Multiple streets were closed and local residents were advised to stay inside away from doors and windows.
It is unknown if anyone was in the home with the individual.
