Calif. HS Teacher Charged With Having ‘Inappropriate Sexual Relationship’ With Student

A teacher at a Palmdale high school has been charged with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old student, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Deputy District Attorney Alexander Lara said Anthony Mahari Faaborg, 53, of Palmdale faces 17 felony counts: five counts each of lewd act upon a child age 15 and sexual penetration of a person under 16 as well as four counts of oral copulation of a person under 16 and three counts of unlawful sexual intercourse.

Faaborg, a teacher at Pete Knight High School, reportedly had the inappropriate sexual conduct with the student on or between October and December last year, the prosecutor said.

If convicted as charged, Faaborg faces a possible maximum sentence of more than 14 years in state prison. Bail is scheduled at $975,000.

The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
