LOS ANGELES — A 23-year-old woman has been charged with leading police on a pursuit in a stolen car and assaulting an officer, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today.

Christina Ohanian of Van Nuys faces one felony count each of assault upon a peace officer, fleeing a pursuing peace officer’s motor vehicle while driving recklessly and driving or taking a vehicle without consent with a prior.

Ohanian is also charged with two misdemeanor counts of hit-and-run driving resulting in property damage. The complaint further alleges that she was convicted in 2015 of grand theft of an automobile.

She pleaded not guilty yesterday and is scheduled to return on July 12.

Ohanian is charged with leading police on a high-speed pursuit through the East San Fernando Valley on June 22, after they suspected she may be driving a stolen vehicle, prosecutors said.

The vehicle being pursued came to a stop on Langdon Avenue and Parthenia Street in North Hills but Ohanian is accused of then driving the car in reverse, colliding with a police patrol car and injuring one officer, prosecutors said.

If convicted as charged, Ohanian faces a possible maximum sentence of more than nine years in state prison. Bail is set at $145,000.
