CHICAGO – A CBP officer intervened during a stabbing incident at Chicago O’Hare International Airport, Terminal 5.

On September 12 at 12:45 a.m. a CBP officer was departing Terminal 5 when he heard shouting from the Terminal 5 pedestrian bridge, connecting Terminal 5 to the short term parking lot.

As the officer approached, he encountered two males involved in an apparent verbal altercation. One of the males swung a safety cone at the other. In retaliation, the other male produced a knife and subsequently stabbed the other subject one time in the abdominal area.

In response, the officer drew his service issued duty weapon and identified himself as a law enforcement officer while ordering the offender to drop the knife. The officer kept the offender at gun point until additional law enforcement personnel arrived on scene to assist with taking the offender into custody.

The offender ultimately surrendered peacefully, and the victim was transported to a local hospital with a non-life threatening stab wound

Chicago Police have indicated that the offender will be charged with Aggravated Battery with a weapon.
