A celebrity fitness expert has been charged with driving under the influence and assaulting a police officer, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Jacqueline Renee Waddell a.k.a Jackie Warner of West Hollywood faces one felony count of assault upon a peace officer and one misdemeanor count each of driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage, driving with a .08 percent blood alcohol content and hit-and-run driving resulting in property damage.
Waddell pleaded not guilty to the charges today and is scheduled to return on May 16 to Department W31 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Airport Branch.
On Feb. 24, the defendant allegedly crashed into an electrical pole near Holloway Drive and Hacienda Place in West Hollywood while driving under the influence, prosecutors said. Waddell, who was known as Jackie Warner on her television show, reportedly then drove to a nearby convenience store where a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy attempted to detain her, prosecutors added.
The defendant allegedly backed her vehicle toward the deputy before striking the patrol car.
If convicted as charged, Waddell faces a possible maximum sentence of six years in state prison
