Tragedy struck in Alaska Sunday when two children were playing with toy guns and one child picked up a real one, police say.
State Troopers responded to the scene in Mountain Village. According to their online statement, the children had initially been playing with Nerf guns when the fatal shooting occurred.
The rifle involved in the incident was accessible inside the home at the time, where an adult was present, reports said. As of now, no criminal charges have been filed.
Due to the sensitive nature of the event and the need to protect juvenile information, limited details about the children, including their names and ages, were disclosed.
