Colo. Couple Arrested on Multiple Charges After Child ‘Ingested a Potentially Lethal Amount of Marijuana,’ Officials Say

MESA COUNTY, Colo – Tuesday, Forrest Nash and Cory Nash, both of Grand Junction, were taken into custody after a warrant was obtained for their arrest.

Just after midnight on November 30, 2019, deputies began investing a report of child abuse after a young child was brought to St. Mary’s Hospital in critical condition. The child was suspected to have ingested a potentially lethal amount of marijuana and was flown to Salt Lake City Children’s Hospital for emergency care. The child is now recovering.

Upon further investigation additional incidents of child abuse involving 5 other children ranging in age from 8-13 were alleged to have occurred between January 2019 and November 2019.

Forrest Nash, 32, is facing the following charges:


  • Child Abuse Knowing or Reckless with Serious Bodily Injury (F3)
  • 5 Counts of Child Abuse Knowing or Reckless with Injury (M1)
  • 5 Counts of Child Abuse Knowing or Reckless with No Injury (M2)
  • 2 Counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor (F4)
  • 2 Counts of Dispensing Marijuana to a Minor (DF4)

Cory Nash, 28, is facing the following charges:

  • Child Abuse Knowing or Reckless with Serious Bodily Injury (F3)
  • 5 Counts of Child Abuse Knowing or Reckless with Injury (M1)
  • 5 Counts of Child Abuse Knowing or Reckless with No Injury (M2)
  • 2 Counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor (F4)
