Colorado Daycare Provider Arrested After Infant Dies

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. — On February 5, 2021, at 11:37 AM, the Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a call regarding an unresponsive infant at an address in the 500 block of Widefield Drive in unincorporated El Paso County. Operating at this address was an in-home daycare for numerous children ranging in ages from 18 months to 7 years old. The facility was operated by a Dana McNair, 53.

Lifesaving efforts were performed on scene by medical personnel on the infant, who was subsequently transported to a local hospital. The infant later died. An investigation into the infant’s death and the “overall conditions at the daycare” was initiated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Today, June 14, 2021, at 11:00 AM, members of the Sheriff’s Office arrested Dana McNair for one count of Felony Child Abuse Resulting in Death as well as 17 counts of misdemeanor child abuse related to the other children being cared for at the daycare as a result of this investigation.

No further details were released.
