Commuter Train Hits, Kills Florida Man Who ‘Purposely’ Stood on Tracks, Cops Say

BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BSO) – Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit detectives are investigating the death of a pedestrian who was struck by a Tri-Rail train on Wednesday morning in Oakland Park.

At approximately 10:14 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, BSO deputies and Oakland Park Fire Rescue responded to reports of a Tri-Rail train versus pedestrian crash on the CSX railroad tracks at Commercial Boulevard, west of I-95. The preliminary investigation reveals that the pedestrian appeared to purposely stand on the southbound train tracks as the Tri-Rail train approached. The train struck the pedestrian, and the pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene.

The pedestrian has not yet been identified.
