A homeless man has been charged with attacking, kidnapping and raping a woman in a parking garage in North Hollywood.

Allen Dante Villarreal, 26, faces one felony count each of kidnapping to commit another crime, rape of an unconscious person, assault with intent to commit a felony, second-degree robbery and criminal threats.

The case was filed for arrest warrant on April 26.

On the night of March 8, the victim was walking to her vehicle in a parking structure when Villarreal allegedly attacked the woman, knocking her out, Deputy District Attorney Ranna Jahanshahi of the Victim Impact Program said. The suspect is accused of raping the victim while she was unconscious and then driving off with her car while she was still inside.

Because Villarreal is a transient with multiple aliases and ties to several states, the investigating agency, Los Angeles Police Department’s North Hollywood Division, Sexual Assault Unit, was assisted by other law enforcement in searching for him.

Those agencies included the LAPD as part of the U.S. Marshals Service Los Angeles Regional Fugitive Task Force, the District Attorney’s Office Bureau of Investigation Special Enforcement Team and the LAPD’s Hollywood Division.

Villarreal was arrested in Hollywood.

It was unclear how the woman escaped.
