CRANFORD. New Jersey — Prosecutors in New Jersey say daycare workers were staging fights among toddlers and recording the incidents on their cell phones.

The children, 4-to-6 year-old students at Lightbridge Academy in Cranford were allegedly encouraged to fight on the playground.

Prosecutors say that 22-year-old Erica Kenny and 28-year-old Chanese White spoke of the movie “Fight Club” and sent the videos to friends via Snapchat, prosecutors say.

“About a dozen children, boys and girls between the ages 4 and 6, just fighting; throwing each other to the ground; hitting each other,” Grace Park, prosecutor, said.

No children were injured in the fights.

Lightbridge Academy issued a statement: “As parents and caregivers, we are shocked and saddened by this isolated incident and we have assisted the prosecutors office from the state of its investigation into this matter. While no children were physically harmed during this incident, we have a zero tolerance policy for anyone who acts in conflict with the core value of Lightbridge Academy – the safety and well-being of our children.”

Kenny and White are accused of child abuse. Kenny also faces endangering the welfare of a child charges.

If convicted, Kenny could face up to five years behind bars, while White could get 18 months in prison.
