WASHINGTON – The Democratic Party’s plan to end the partial United States government shutdown, set to pass after taking control of the House of Representatives on Thursday, includes a stopgap spending bill to fund the Homeland Security Department through  to Feb. 8 and would not include any increase in border wall funding, The Washington Post reported on Monday.

The bill would continue existing levels of the wall funding at $1.7 billion, resisting the demands of President Donald Trump, who says a physical border wall on the border with Mexico is essential to U.S. national security.

The legislation would also reopen the other closed parts of the federal government by passing bipartisan spending bills to fund the agencies through Sept. 30.
