SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. – Deputies have made an arrest regarding a parent for proper treatment of an infant after viewing disturbing images on social media, they say.
Caitlin Alyse Hardy, 33, is charged with cruelty to children.
The warrant alleges that on January 26, Hardy caused “ill treatment and unnecessary pain and suffering to a female child who is 9 months old.
Deputies say The woman poured a bottle of water on the infant child’s head as she was sleeping. After being poured with water the second time, the infant woke up coughing.
The suspect recorded the video and posted the incident on Facebook. Screenshots circulating online read “Payback for waking me up all kinda times of da night.”
The sheriffs office has notified social services for additional investigations.
The sheriff said, “the charge against this defendant will be prosecuted to the full list extent of the law“
