DEVELOPING: 3 Kansas Deputies Shot, Suspect Dead & Woman Critical After Pursuit

DODGE CITY, Kan. – Three deputies and a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper were injured in a shooting incident that occurred in Dodge City on Monday morning.

According to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI), the incident began when the Clark County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle driven by a wanted suspect, who fled and led police on a chase north towards Dodge City. Deputies from the Ford County Sheriff’s Office and the Kansas Highway Patrol subsequently joined the pursuit. When the suspect’s vehicle came to a stop, gunfire was exchanged.

The shooting took place at Hwy 50 and 113 Rd. in Dodge City.

Two deputies from the Ford County Sheriff’s Office were shot, one in serious condition and the other in good condition. Both were transported to a hospital in Wichita. A deputy from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office was also shot and is in serious condition. He too is being transported to Wichita. A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper was bitten by a K-9 officer during the incident and is in good condition.

The male suspect was shot and killed, while a woman who was in the vehicle was also shot and is in critical condition. She too is being transported to a hospital in Wichita.

The investigation is ongoing.
