NEW JERSEY — Officials were responding to a possible barge explosion off Seaside Heights, New Jersey Monday. The US Coast Guard is also assisting.
Following the incident, 3-4 injuries were reported aboard the dredge barge near Grant Avenue.
Seaside Heights Police Chief Thomas Boyd told the Asbury Park Press ‘it was unclear whether there had been an explosion or whether a piece of equipment had broken loose from the barge.’
The cause of the blast remains under investigation.
