The North Korean military launched at least two ‘unidentified projectiles’ Monday, according to the Yonhap news agency, citing South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS).

The projectiles were launched toward the East Sea from North Korea’s Wonsam region.

“Our military is monitoring the situation in case of additional launches and maintaining a readiness posture,” the JCS said.

The incident is the latest development since dictator Kim Jong-un vowed a “a new strategic weapon” earlier this year.

In recent days, Kim Jong-un has threatened there will be “serious consequences” if the coronavirus spreads to the country–but it is unclear if this incident is related to the global outbreak.
