‘We believe she’s been harmed’: Police search for missing 5-year-old girl in Logan

LOGAN, Utah — Police are on a frantic search for missing 5-year-old Elizabeth Shelley — who was last seen at 2 a.m. and discovered missing at 10AM Saturday morning on the west side of Logan.

The girl’s uncle, 21-year-old Alex Whipple, has been located and is police custody on a probation violation. He is the main suspect.

Police say Whipple is being ‘uncooperative’ in the investigation. Whipple was visiting the family’s home Friday evening and was last seen around the same time as Elizabeth.

Police told CNN, the incident ‘is not going to end well.’

“We’re very concerned,” said Logan police Capt. Tyson Budge. “At this point, we believe she’s been harmed.”

“We know there are many who want to help and there are some who think they are helping by posting their concern about the perceived lack of details of this investigation,” the department wrote on Facebook. “They do not have all the information because we cannot release everything pertinent to this investigation. There are many agencies in a coordinated effort working around the clock and will continue to work until she is found.”

It is unknown what type of shirt she was wearing, but is believed at this point she was wearing either blue jeans or a teal colored plaid skirt. She is 3’6″ with shoulder length curly brown hair with choppy bangs and brown eyes.
