Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp all suffered outages Monday afternoon. The social networks slowly began coming back online for some users after a 6-hour outage.
“We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products,” Facebook wrote in a brief statement. “We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”
The cause of the problem was not immediately known.
Also on Monday, users of wireless carriers Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T reported issues with their service. It was unclear if the issues were related to the Facebook outage.
