Doctor Attacked By Man With Rope Outside California Hospital, Police Say

COLUMBUS -- Police at Ohio State University are investigating a 'self-inflicted shooting' that happened at the Wexner Arts Center for Arts Sunday.

Lompoc, CA. — On Tuesday, the Lompoc Police Department received a 911 call describing an attack in the area of the Lompoc Valley Medical Center. Officer’s responded and discovered that a suspect approached the victim, a doctor, from behind placing a rope around the victim’s neck pulling them to the ground. The suspect continued to hold the rope until the victim passed out.

Once the victim passed out the suspect grabbed the victims property and fled the area. The victim regained consciousness and began to yell for help. The suspect was seen by witnesses fleeing the area. When officers arrived they were able to obtain a location in the 1400 block of East Ocean Avenue where the suspect was last seen. A search of the area resulted in a person that matched the description of the suspect being located. A field show up was conducted, the suspect was positively ID’d and arrested for attempted murder.

The suspect was identified as Long Lu and determined to be from the San Jose area. Lu was booked into the Lompoc Jail with a $1,000,000.00 bail.

The victim was treated at the Lompoc Valley Medical Center for injuries sustained during the attack.
