Dramatic bodycam video shows moment Georgia deputy is shot at point-blank range during traffic stop

JONES COUNTY, Ga. — A sheriff’s deputy in Georgia is expected to return to duty after he was shot in the chest at point blank range during a traffic stop early Sunday morning.

His bulletproof vest likely saved his life.

Deputy John Kile was able to pursue the suspect and with a coordinated effort along with Deputies Jackson and Sullivan and Officer Farley from the city, managed to use stop sticks or tire spikes to stop the suspect. 24-year old Zachary Lucas Olivar of Snellville Ga. is in being held at the Jones County Sheriff’s Office without bond facing multiple charges.
