An NYPD Detective has been arrested and charged with DWI after he was involved in a serious crash that left two people fighting for their lives.
32-year-old Neville Smith, who works out of the Detectives Bronx Bureau, rear-ended a Honda while driving on the Van Wyck Expressway southbound at Rockaway Boulevard in South Ozone Park at around 4:00AM Sunday morning.
The Honda was occupied by a driver and two passengers.
Two females are in critical condition at Jamaica Hospital. One male is in stable condition at Jamaica Hospital.
According to a release by the NYPD, Smith has been charged with vehicular assault, assault, DWI, refusal to take a breath test.
