CONNECTICUT — On May 3, 2019, Barbara March, 73, of Bridgeport, pleaded guilty in Bridgeport to escaping from federal custody.

According to court documents and statements made in court, in October 2006, March was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment for mailing baked goods laced with rat poison to Supreme Court justices, FBI officials and military leaders.

On April 26, 2018, March signed out of the halfway house in Washington, D.C., where she was completing her sentence, and failed to return as scheduled. She was arrested in Bridgeport on October 9, 2018.

A Judge scheduled sentencing for June 24, 2019, at which time March faces a maximum term of imprisonment of five years. March has been detained since her arrest.

On May 10, 2018, a federal grand jury in the District of Columbia returned an indictment charging March with one count of escape from custody. The case was transferred to the District of Connecticut for further prosecution.
