Former ABC News reporter James Gordon Meek, 53, of Arlington, Virginia, was arrested last night for charges related to the alleged transportation of child sexual abuse images.

The investigation was triggered by an investigative lead received by the FBI’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force from Dropbox.

In April 2022, a court-authorized search of Meek’s home was conducted by task force members, resulting in the seizure of multiple devices allegedly containing evidence of the transportation of child pornography. According to court documents, several of Meek’s devices contained sexually explicit images of children and chat conversations expressing a desire for child sexual abuse.

FBI Special Agent Tonya Sturgill Griffith wrote in the affidavit, “The iPhone 8 contained three chat conversations in which the username ‘Pawny4’ was engaging in sexually explicit conversations where the participants expressed enthusiasm for the sexual abuse of children.”

In one instance, Meek allegedly asked another user, “Have you ever raped a toddler girl? It’s amazing.” To which the user replied, “It’s my fucking dream.”

In another exchange in 2020, Meek explained to a Kik user his fantasy about “abducting, drugging, and raping” her as a 12-year-old girl, the NY Post reported.

Meek is charged with transportation of child pornography, with a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years and a maximum of 20 years in prison if convicted.
