More Help You May Need When Book Hotel at Expedia

1. Change your hotel or vacation rental booking

Most of the time, you can make your changes online. Expedia won’t charge you a fee, but the hotel might. Stroll down on the hotel booking page and you can see related policies.

Some hotels will charge a late check-in fee or late check-out fee, so please complete check-in and check-out on time.

Some hotel rooms are fully or partly refundable, while others are non-refundable.

Vacation rentals work a little differently than regular hotels. You’ll have to get a hold of your property manager to cancel.

Try changing your booking instead of canceling it, if it’s possible.

2. Hotel payment options

  • Pay now online. It means pay in full.

  • Book now, pay later

You’ll pay the hotel when you check-in or check-out, in their local currency.

Accepted debit/credit cards vary by hotel. Call ahead and check to see if they take your card.

If you’re paying later, you may be able to make the booking without entering any credit or debit card details.  Most properties will likely still require this information, however.

  • Reserve with a deposit, pay later

Some hotels give you the option to reserve your booking with a deposit, and then pay the rest when you get there.

Accepted debit/credit cards vary by hotel.

3. Please note that not all hotels are all-inclusive.

This has the biggest impact on your dietary choices (you may have to pay for meals).

All-inclusive hotels and resorts include:

  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner at specific hotel restaurants

  • Local (domestic) or limited alcoholic beverages

  • Non-alcoholic beverages

  • Local activities, such as dinner shows, water sports, and activities for children

  • Transportation to and from the hotel

4. Filters can help you find the right hotel.

Step 1: Sort settings at the top of the hotel search page. Type in where you want to go, down to the street.

Step 2: Order search results to your preference, such as price, verified review score, and other criteria.

Step 3: Hotel ads first. Stroll down to see other hotels.

Step 4: Using the filter on the left, select the criteria you need. Such as:

  • Payment type

  • Property type (hotel, motel, hostel/backpacker accommodation, etc.)

  • Popular locations (depends on your destination)

  • Meal plans available

  • Amenities

  • Traveler experience (LGBTQ welcoming, business friendly, family friendly)
