FDNY Commissioner Salvatore J. Cassano will preside over a ceremony promoting 99 FDNY members on Thursday, September 12 at 10 a.m. at the Christian Cultural Center, 120-20 Flatlands Avenue in Brooklyn. Two Battalion Chiefs will be promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief, 52 Lieutenants will be promoted to the rank of Captain, and 45 Firefighters will be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.
“With this promotion of new leaders in the Department so close to the anniversary of September 11th, we are reminded of those who led this Department that day and demonstrated what it meant to be a New York City Firefighter,” said Commissioner Cassano. “These new officers will bring to their work the unmatched dedication for which the FDNY is known, and for which those members we remember on September 11th serve forever as a testament.”
Together, the newly promoted members have over 1,400 years of experience with the Department. They will be assigned to various units throughout the city.
