FLORIDA — A Broward County judge set a half-million dollar bond Tuesday for the brother of Florida school shooter Nikolas Cruz.

Zachary Cruz was charged with trespassing at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Monday–the same school where the deadly massacre occurred.

Officials said Zachary Cruz bypassed all locked doors and gates and began riding his skateboard. He told arriving officers he entered the property to “reflect on the school shooting and soak it in.”

Assistant State Attorney Saranell Murphys said Monday Zachary had contact with Nikolas while in jail and they spoke of how many girls they could attract due to the killer’s fame.

“Probably most concerning is his contact that he has had with his brother in the jail since his incarceration,” Murphys said. “He has been heard and observed discussing how popular his brother is now, that his face is everywhere and his name is national.”

“There is discussion of starting some sort of pen pal or fan club and how many girls he is capable of attracting, referring to his brother Nikolas.”

Joseph Kimok, Zachary Cruz’s lawyer, complained his client’s bail was set too high and only because his sibling is a murderer.

On February 14, seventeen people were killed and seventeen more were wounded at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, making it one of the world’s deadliest school massacres.
