ORLANDO — A teen girl fatally shot herself inside of her school’s auditorium Wednesday morning. The incident happened at Lake Mary High School — 655 Longwood Lake Mary Road.
Deputies say the 17-year-old girl asked to use the restroom around 8 a.m. when she went to the empty auditorium and shot herself with a handgun.
School resource deputies responded to the gunfire and located the girl. Along with the school nurse, they tried to save her but were unsuccessful.
The shooting was reported as an “isolated incident” and the school was placed on code red lockdown.
It was unclear how the girl ended up with a gun.
