Fort Campbell Soldier Arrested For Sexual Relationship With Minor Over Internet

Pinellas County, FLORIDA — Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit have arrested a Fort Campbell soldier for having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a minor over the internet.

According to detectives, their investigation began on December 7, 2016, when the victim who was 14-years-old at the time, informed detectives that she had a ten month online relationship with the suspect, 23-year-old Peter Maxx Matlock, that turned sexual in nature.

The victim informed detectives that Matlock communicated with her through Facebook, Skype and through text messages. During their communications, Matlock requested and obtained numerous nude photographs from the victim and the two simulated sex while on video utilizing the website Skype.

Detectives say that Matlock had knowledge of the victim’s age during this relationship and he discussed the potential criminal consequences for his actions on multiple occasions.

Through various investigative techniques, detectives recovered evidence collaborating the victim’s statements.

Detectives interviewed Matlock at his parent’s residence located at 1566 Ridgewood Street in Clearwater. Matlock admitted to the allegations.

Matlock was arrested at about 7:45 p.m., on December 28, 2016, and was transported to the Pinellas County Jail without incident.

Matlock was charged with three counts of Transmission of Material Harmful to a Minor by Electronic Device, one count of Certain Uses of Computer Services or Devices Prohibited, and one count of Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Communications Device.

The investigation continues.
