Patagonia, ARIZONA — Six men, 2 Middle Eastern, were arrested along the Arizona/Mexico border early Tuesday morning.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents detained the men, who were picked up by the Joint Terrorism Task Force and questioned.

One of the men was from Pakistan, one from Afghanistan.

According to ABC15, a sensor was triggered and Border Patrol agents responded to the location.

The suspects were later released to ICE.

“The group were with some Mexican Nationals and were being smuggled in to the country,” FBI spokesman Kurt Remis said.

“As a standard procedure, agents processed the six individuals and checked their identities against numerous law enforcement and national security related databases. Records checks revealed no derogatory information about the individuals. The individuals are currently in federal custody.”
