NEAR LONDONĀ  – The United Kingdom’s Gatwick Airport resumed flights Friday evening after a brief hour-long closure earlier in the day over drone sightings.

Just minutes after local media had reported Gatwick Airport re-opened early Friday afternoon local time, the United Kingdom’s second busiest international airport suspended flights once again after a new “suspected drone sighting” on Friday.

A spokeswoman for the airport told BBC News that the administration just heard a report “of another drone sighting that we are investigating”, with the airport suspending flights as a precaution.

Aircraft are circling above the airport, unable to land, according to data from FlightRadar, and crews are on standby as passengers await news.

Gatwick had reopened earlier on Friday after suspending flights for over a day following drone sightings that started on Wednesday around 9:30 p.m. local time, with the last sighting occurring Thursday evening.

Metropolitan Police have found that more than one unmanned aircraft is responsible for the scares, and are investigating potentially multiple suspects.
