COLOGNE – German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s plane, headed to the G20 Summit in Argentina, was forced to make an emergency landing, her office said, with German media reporting the plane had experienced “electronic problems” mid-flight.

The plane, tagged as the Konrad Adenauer, had to return after making its way an hour into the 15-hour-long flight to Buenos Aires, with images from the airport in Cologne showing emergency services on standby for her arrival.

There have been no reports of injury over the unscheduled grounding, with German reporters publishing that it may have been over “technical issues with its communications technology”.
