Girl Saved From Instagram Predator Who Took Her 350 Miles From Home

DEL RIO, Texas – On January 5th, 2023, at about 6.33 p.m. officers of the Del Rio Police Department responded to the 100 block of Currency Drive in reference to a missing, 12 year old female child.

The child’s parents reported the child had been taken by an unknown adult male without their knowledge or consent.

Video surveillance footage near the child’s residence captured the suspect’s vehicle description.

The child was seen entering the suspect’s vehicle and subsequently departed the area. Through an extensive search using the department’s license plate reader system, the suspect’s vehicle was tracked down as it entered Del Rio at 5:09 p.m. on the same date and was seen leaving eastbound on US Highway 90 East at 6:11 p.m., after the reported abduction.

The US Marshal’s Office, Val Verde County Sheriff’s Department and Texas Department of Public Safety were contacted to assist with the investigation. The license plate reader system was utilized in locating a possible address for the suspect revealing an address in Stafford, TX. Stafford Police Department was contacted, and assistance was requested in locating the suspect’s vehicle at the given address.

At approximately 12:32 a.m.. Detectives were notified by the Stafford Police Department that the abducted child was safely located, along with the suspect at the address provided by Del Rio Police Department as the vehicle arrived at the address. Stafford Police Department reported the child appeared to be in good health and not harmed.

An arrest warrant affidavit was prepared for the offense of Unlawful Restraint of a Minor against the suspect, identified as Christopher Quintanilla, 24.

Preliminary investigation revealed Quintanilla met the child on a social media platform and traveled to Del Rio to take her with him without the effective consent or knowledge of the child’s parents.

Judge Gonzalez placed conditions of bond which prohibits Quintanilla from having any contact with the child, either directly or indirectly in person, through any social media platform, telephone, text message, email, or any other possible means.

Quintanilla was placed under arrest for the offense of Unlawful Restraint of a Minor.

The investigation continues.
