TEL AVIV – At least five people were killed and other wounded following a shooting attack Tuesday night in the areas of Bnei Brak and Ramat Gan near Tel Aviv, reports say.
Video shows the suspected terrorist walking a residential street and opening fire on a driver passing by in an SUV.
The suspect, who was armed with a rifle, was reportedly killed by an armed civilian who returned fire. Police have not ruled out multiple shooters.
Prime Minister Naftali Bennett will hold a security consultation on tonight’s attack, the Prime Minister’s office says.
US Ambassador to Israel Tom Nides said, “Just now hearing reports of another attack in Israel, this time taking the lives of innocent people in Bnei Brak. My heart goes out to the families of the victims. No one should have to endure such heartbreak.”
11 people have been killed in the past week in three terror attacks in the country.
