SMYRNA, Georgia — A hostage situation involving young children was unfolding in Cobb County Thursday afternoon. A woman has also reportedly escaped.
The incident was playing out at an apartment complex near Huntington Trace and Church Road.
Local media reports two men and two children were inside the residence — one of the men is believed to be the father of the kids.
Hostage negotiators have been called to the scene.

It was unclear what prompted the standoff. No injuries have been reported.
