JACKSON, MISS. — Officers were responding to reports of an active shooter at University of Mississippi Medical Center Thursday evening. Local media reports at least two children have been shot.
According to an alert sent to students and staff, the shooter was spotted in Parking Garage B.
“This is not a drill. RUN to safety. HIDE in a locked room. FIGHT as a last resort…,’ the alert said.

According to The Clarion-Ledger, two children, ages 1 and 3, were shot by the suspect while sitting in a car with their mother.
Information about the suspect was not known.
