LOS ANGELES — A Burbank high school assistant baseball coach was charged today with having unlawful sex with a student over a two-year period, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Jose Antonio Banuelos Jr., 28, was arraigned this afternoon.
Banuelos is charged with two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse of minor, and one count each of oral copulation of a person under 16, oral copulation of a person under 18, sexual penetration by a foreign object, possession of child pornography, all felonies. He also is charged with a misdemeanor count of having a concealed firearm on person.
Prosecutors said Banuelos allegedly began the relationship with the female student in June 2013 when she was 15 years old at the time. The relationship lasted until Feb. 29 of this year.
If convicted, Banuelos faces more than seven years in state prison.
