Houston Police: Man fatally stabbed while trying to protect woman from attacker; suspect at large

HOUSTON, Texas – A manhunt is underway for a suspect wanted in the fatal stabbing of a man that occurred at 7575 Office City Drive in Houston about 1:55 a.m. Monday. The suspect, Rogelio Calzada, 18, is charged with murder.

The identity of the victim, 22, was not immediately released.

HPD Homicide Sergeant J. Horn and Detective J. Escobar reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to an assault call to an apartment and found the victim unresponsive on the living room floor. Paramedics pronounced him deceased.

A witness stated Calzada was assaulting a female when the victim intervened. Calzada then assaulted the victim by stabbing him several times. When the witness returned, Calzada was seen fleeing the apartment. The witness then found the victim with trauma to his chest and called 911.
