Jackson State University in Mississippi was placed on lockdown Wednesday as police responded to a reported active shooter.
“We have an active shooter on campus.” the university tweeted at 12:39 p.m. “The entire campus community should take shelter immediately. The campus is currently on lock down. We will notify you when the situation is resolved.”

The University later said the lockdown was lifted.
“The JSU campus lock down has been lifted. The campus community is no longer under threat of an active shooter.”
It was unclear if anyone was injured or if a suspect was in custody.
