(Scroll down for video) — Dozens were killed in a twin suicide attack in Lebanon’s capital Beirut.

The explosion is believed to have taken place in a predominantly Shia neighborhood Burj al-Barajneh, to the south of the city, a city official told the Associated Press.

Images on social media showed a scene of devastation, with scores of people running through streets littered with debris.

The Red Cross is now reporting that the toll from the twin blasts in Beirut has risen to 41 people killed and over 100 injured.

An Islamic State affiliated group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

A third would-be suicide bomber was found dead at the scene, his vest still on. Local media says the terrorist was killed by shrapnel from the initial blast.

In a video posted to social media, you can hear a large blast, presumably the second one. A second cell phone video (below) shows the aftermath. CAUTION: Graphic content
