DES MOINES, Iowa – A man had been arrested after he reportedly constructed an IED while sitting at a Sushi restaurant in downtown Des Moines.
Ivory Washington, 40, called police on himself while at the Akebono restaurant—located at 515 at 215 10th Street. Washington told dispatchers he had built a bomb.
Officers with the bomb squad arrived and cleared the device, confirming it was indeed a live IED, WHO reported. Police do not know what Washington was planning to do with the device.
Washington is charged with possession of explosive or incendiary material with intent. He is being held on a $10,000 bond in the Polk County Jail.
