NEW JERSEY — Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp, Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of Investigations Stephen F. Wilson Jr., and Mountain Lakes Police Chief Shawn Bennett say that Thomas Kolding, a 15 year old boy from Mountain Lakes, New Jersey, who was possibly traveling to Ohio, has been found safe.
The investigation concerning the missing boy spanned the course of two weeks.
The boy, from Mountain Lakes, had been missing since October 30, 2018. Officials in New Jersey did not say if he was found in Ohio but they thanked investigators there:
Prosecutor Knapp, Chief Wilson, and Chief Bennett extend their sincerest appreciation to the multiple jurisdictions and agencies involved in this investigation including but not limited to New Jersey Transit Police Department, Amtrak Police Department, New Jersey State Police Department, Camden Police Department, Philadelphia Police Department, Delaware Port Authority Police Department, Miami Township, Ohio Police Department, as well as transportation agencies who assisted in the coordination of a multi-state search for Thomas Kolding.
ORIGINAL STORY: Thomas Kolding, who lives in Mountain Lakes with his parents, was last known to be at his family home on October 30, 2018. It is believed that Kolding may have traveled by train from Denville to Newark – Broad Street Station. From there, he is believed to have travelled by train from Broad Street Station to New York Penn Station. His location is unknown from that point. However, the investigation revealed that Kolding had a strong interest in travelling to California.
Officials have not indicated if he is a runaway or was allowed to travel on his own.
Kolding is a 15 year old white male. He has brown hair and brown eyes. He weighs approximately 120 lbs and is five foot three in height. He was last seen wearing a camouflage jacket, gray winter skull cap and carrying a large black backpack.
