Police Make Second Arrest In The Death Of Retired FBI Agent In Maryland

LAUREL, MD — Police have arrested Jason Allen Byrd, age 42, of Westminster Maryland, for the homicide of 62-year-old Scott Alan Horn that occurred on March 16th in the 200 block of Patuxent Road in Laurel. He is charged with 1st degree murder, 2nd degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder and the use of a handgun in a crime of violence. Another suspect, Anne Reed Allen, age 62, was arrested on June 30th.

On Thursday, March 16, 2017, at approximately 8:58 pm, Laurel Police received a 911 call for an unresponsive male at a residence in the area of 200-block of Patuxent Road, Laurel, Maryland. Officers arrived within minutes and located the 62-year-old Horn deceased in the yard of the home. The victim, who was a retired Special Agent with the FBI, was found with major trauma to his upper body.

Detectives from the Laurel Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division, with assistance from the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit, immediately began investigating the death as a homicide.

Detectives ultimately identified the victim’s 62 year old estranged wife, Anne Reed Allen, and Jason Alan Byrd as the suspects in Horns’ murder. On June 30th, Allen was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and related charges.

On July 10th, Byrd was arrested charging him with 1st degree murder and related charges. Both Byrd and Allen are currently being held at the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections.
