Juvenile Detention Officer Arrested on Rape, Sodomy Charges

Loudoun County, VIRGINIA — A juvenile detention officer in Fairfax County has been arrested on four felony sex offenses after an investigation conducted by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

Clifton Townsend, Jr., 60, of Leesburg, was taken into custody Monday night after the investigation determined he had sexual contact in Loudoun County with a juvenile who was known to him. The victim is not associated with his work at the Fairfax County Juvenile Detention Center. The age and gender of the juvenile are not being released to protect the identity of the victim.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office was made aware of the sex crimes on Saturday, August 17.

Townsend is charged with rape, carnal knowledge of a child, and two counts of sodomy. He is currently being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on no bond.
