KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 22-year-old Kansas City man has been charged in connection with a stabbing of a woman at the Walmart store on 40 Highway on Dec.31, 2018, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.

Brian Lenoble Jr., dob: 8/10/1996, faces Domestic Assault 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action charges.*

According to court records, an off-duty police officer at the Walmart Supercenter on U.S. 40 Highway was called to the automotive center on a reported stabbing. The officer observed a large cut on the victim’s neck and a knife blade still embedded there. The officer took the defendant custody in the parking lot. While taking him into custody, the defendant told the officer that he tried to kill the victim. A witness told police detectives that the suspect had a knife in his hand when he went behind the counter at the automotive section of the store and stabbed the victim in the neck. The defendant told police he grabbed a knife at the store and stabbed the victim. When she screamed, he ran.

“They had some words exchanged,” a witness told Fox 4 KC. “She told him he couldn’t come behind the counter, and I guess he took offense to that. And when she turned her back to do what I asked her to do as far as make a key for me, that is when he attacked her.”

Prosecutors requested a $100,000 bond.
