LOS ANGELES, CA — A transient was charged today with raping an unconscious 35-year-old woman who also was living on the streets in Pomona.

Jerome Perrin, 42, was charged with one count each of “kidnapping to commit rape, rape of an unconscious or asleep person, oral copulation of an unconscious or asleep person and sexual penetration of an unconscious or asleep person.”

On January 11, Perrin allegedly found the victim, who appeared to be sick, in a back lot near the 2000 block of South Garey Avenue. The defendant is accused of dragging her to a dark location and sexually assaulting her. He then allegedly covered her with a blanket and left.

The victim later died and her body was discovered the following day. Detectives believe the victim and suspect may have known each other.

The victim was not identified and her cause of death has not been released.

If convicted as charged, Perrin faces a possible maximum sentence of seven years to life in state prison.
