Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Traffic Division are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect responsible for a hit and run traffic collision that severely injured a bicyclist.

On August 22, 2019, around 10:20 p.m., the victim was riding his bicycle east on Whittier Boulevard near Calzona Street. A white 2011-2018 Chevrolet/GMC full size truck, travelling west, crossed the center divider into oncoming traffic and struck the bicyclist. After the collision, the driver failed to stop to render aid, identify himself or herself, and fled the scene in the vehicle.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and transported the victim to a local hospital with severe injuries.

The vehicle has a red front bumper, lower valance air deflector, black rims and a black bed cover. The truck may have a custom white rear bumper, and possible aftermarket headlamps and tail lamps. There is no suspect description.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $25,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
