At least 12 people have been injured after a vehicle ploughed through crowds watching a parade.
The vehicle drove into crowds watching the Endymion parade in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Emergency services have now responded to the scene, but a police spokesperson said they fear more people could have sustained injuries.
Police spokeswoman Ambria Washington said: “Initial reports show so far about a dozen people are in critical condition.
“That number could increase as the investigation is ongoing.”
The driver was swiftly taken into police custody, it is unclear if there was a motive behind the incident.
The parade will continue despite the large amount of emergency vehicles at the scene of the incident.
